We are introducing whole grains in popular products like cake doughnuts to enrich and excite interest in school meals for our students. Beginning the 2014-15 school year, all grains offered must be rich in whole grains.
The My Plate food guidance system recommends we consume at least half our grains as whole grains in servings of 2 or more ounce-equivalents per day. We offer a doughnut for dessert every other Friday with school lunch. They are baked in Salt Lake in a nut free facility. It’s easy to see that our students love this tasty whole grain treat!
