Students celebrated the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel on March 2. While enjoying fresh, red apples, we acknowledged his beloved book “Ten Apples Up on Top.” Kids also enjoyed a dessert of animal crackers to celebrate his book “If I Ran the Zoo,” which he wrote in 1950.
Students loved the crisp, red apples, which were sliced up and easy to eat. The animal crackers are also a kid-friendly favorite and we love to serve them as a whole grain, healthy treat. Dr Seuss’s birthday has become known as National Read Across America Day.
Our child nutrition program was happy to help that effort by doing a drawing for books during the lunch period. The kids were so excited!
