Food for Thought: Fresh Winter Fruit

Winter is usually the time year to eat summer fruits that have been preserved by canning. But, since Florida grapefruit is in season from November to June, our kids can enjoy its unique, somewhat sweet taste this winter.

Grapefruit is often thought of as a diet food, which has merit, but they are also full of nutrients and are an excellent source of vitamin A and C.

Studies show eating plant foods like grapefruit reduce risk of obesity, diabetes and heart disease while promoting increased energy!
