Ketchup is a popular condiment amongst most school-aged kids. It’s most popular application is with french fries and burgers but occasionally it just goes with everything! Ketchup is a good source of lycopene, which is a healthy antioxidant.
For school lunch, a lower sodium ketchup is purchased in keeping with the USDA’s sodium restrictions. It only works in the nutritional calculations in meeting the calorie and sodium maximums. For some kids, it’s a bit more than just a condiment!
