Food for Thought: Lunch Staff Goes to School

We all have to attend class, even adults, and this past week 35 child nutrition employees attended a 10-hour ServSafe training while students had the day off. State requirements say one person per kitchen must hold a current certificate. While local restaurants are required to re-certify every five years, schools must do it every three years.

We’ve offered the class to all our wonderful employees, including our awesome warehouse personnel. Our employees are well trained and knowledgeable about food safety. It’s important not to have food waste due to mishandling of inventory or rotation and also to keep costs down.

Parents can feel confident that their child’s food is prepared with the utmost care and consideration of food safety practices. Our health department inspections are displayed at each location at all times.
