A 21-year-old man formerly of Carbon County passed away Sunday after struggling to stay afloat while swimming at Sand Hollow State Park on Saturday, according to Utah State Parks officials.

Nicholas Floyd, who was not wearing a lifejacket, was swimming at Sand Hallow when he reportedly began to have trouble staying afloat. Friends of Floyd worked to help him until a search and rescue crew responded to assist. Members of the crew brought him to their boat and proceeded to perform emergency medical procedures.

Floyd was then transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center, where he was eventually removed from life support.

A GoFundMe account has been created to help Floyd’s family with the pending funeral expenses. Those that wish to do so can donate by clicking here.
