Hayden Cloward, a senior at Emery High School and Vice President of the Emery High Rodeo Team, captured a total of four first place wins during the last weekend of the Dixie-6 rodeo season. This feat, almost unheard of, included two firsts in tie-down roping, a first in team roping and first place all-around cowboy. On Friday, he roped and tied a calf in 9.5 seconds. Then, on Saturday, Cloward finished the same contest in 9.8 seconds. He and his partner roped in 6.53 seconds on Friday and placed eighth with 10.78 seconds on Saturday.
Other Emery High team members that placed last weekend were Jessie McElprang, sixth in breakaway roping, Korby Christiansen, tenth in reining cow horse, and Jessica Fox, second in breakaway.
Sierra Edwards, a Carbon High team member, placed third both days in the poles category. She ran in a fast time of 20 seconds both days.
This meet concluded the winter rodeo series. The rodeo teams will practice at home and take a short recess from the road before hitting the road in March.
