The Division of Wildlife Resources will stock two water bodies with rainbow trout for upcoming kids fishing events which will be held at the Huntington Game Farm Pond and at Green River State Park.
The events are free and children under 12 years old do not need a license to fish. Kids 12 years or older do need to bring their current fishing license with them.
To ensure good fishing, volunteers will be available to provide individual instruction. DWR will also provide rods, reels and bait to children who do not have their own. Children under 14 years old will also be eligible for prizes.
A two fish limit will be enforced at each event. Wildlife officials believe that rainbow trout measuring approximately eight to ten inches will be caught by the young anglers.
The free fishing event at Green River State Park will take place Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information about the Green River fishing event, contact DWR Regional Volunteer Coordinator, Walt Maldonado at 820-8147.
Kids fishing day at Huntington Game Farm Pond will be Sept. 21, from 8 to 11 a.m. For more information regarding this event, contact DWR Regional Conservation Outreach Manager Brent Stettler at 613-3707.
