Fuelwood Permits Go on Sale at Forest Service

Forest Service Press Release

PRICE, Utah – The Manti-La Sal National Forest will begin issuing permits for gathering of firewood and other forest products on the Ferron, Price, and Sanpete Ranger Districts beginning June 3 through Nov. 30, 2019. A valid permit is required prior to an individual collecting and removing any forest product, including fuelwood, from National Forest System lands.

Due to the increase in commercial timber sales, please refer to fuelwood restriction maps for areas prohibited to fuel wood harvesting. Additionally, please do not attempt to harvest fuelwood where conditions are wet on and off roads. Maps and permits are available at Forest Service offices.

Utah law also requires proof of product ownership to harvest and transport forest products from state, private and federal lands in Utah. Permits sold at any Forest Service offices are valid for cutting wood on National Forest System lands. Further details and specific instructions will be explained upon purchase of your permit.

On the Ferron, Price and Sanpete Ranger Districts, firewood will be available at $5 per cord. The minimum value of a permit sale is $20. Permits for firewood and other forest products can be purchased at Forest Service offices at 115 West Canyon Road, Ferron, UT, phone: (435) 384-2372; or at 599 West Price River Drive, Price, UT, phone: (435) 637-2817; and 540 North Main Street, Ephraim, UT, phone: (435) 283-4151.
