July 24 is a special day for many Utahn’s. The day marks a holiday known as Pioneer Day, which is a state holiday celebrated each year to commemorate the entry of the first group of Mormon pioneers into Utah’s Salt Lake Valley in 1847.

Emery Town played host to a weekend of fun and games to celebrate the day. The festivities were kicked off on July 21 with softball games. Friday, a kid’s rodeo, movie at the recreation center and nighttime 5K all took place.

The biggest day for celebration was Saturday, July 23. The day started off early with a 7 a.m. breakfast in the park. There was also skeet shooting, a parade on Main Street, a lively production put on by the local children, kids games, fireworks and more.
