The USU Eastern men’s soccer team kicked off the 2015 season with back-to-back-to-back games last week. The three-day stint saw competitions against Western Wyoming, Treasure Valley Community College and Northwest Kansas Tech.

The Golden Eagles started the season with a tie against Western Wyoming last Thursday. At the home match, USU Eastern connected with the net once. Western Wyoming also notched one goal in the matchup, leaving the score 1-1.

Next up for the Eagles was another home match, this time against Treasure Valley. The team dominated the game, shutting out TVCC 2-0. Mourchid Youssef connected with the net 31 minutes into the first half. Andres Garza scored the second goal for USUE at the 75-minute mark.

On Saturday, the team wrapped up its three-game stint with a win against Northwest Kansas Tech. Kansas Tech came out fast in the first half, scoring an unassisted goal in the first minute of play. Youssef then kickstarted the Eagles’ offense 20 minutes into play with an unassisted goal. A goal by Jake Clements in the second put USUE up for the rest of the game, 2-1.

The Golden Eagles will take to the field again on Thursday, Aug. 27 as they travel to Wyoming for a game against Sheridan College.
