The Patmos Fire that erupted from a lightning strike near East Carbon July 7 is 95% contained as of Sunday evening.

According to Moab Interagency Fire Center Director Clark Maughan, the fire reached 19 acres of land on Patmos Ridge. Significant precipitation on Saturday helped contain the fire, according to the director.

“The fire activity is just smoldering in the interior of the fire,” he explained. “It is being monitored by one engine.”

Crews will continue to monitor the fire until it is 100% contained.
