Great Weekend for Emery Jr. High Rodeo

The Black Hawk Arena, Salina, welcomed many Jr. High Rodeo participants and fans Friday and Saturday. Among these participants were four Emery Jr. High rodeo team members, Race Gordon, Zeek Weber, Kayson Jensen and Byron Christiansen, all four placed during the weekend.

Instead of riding horses for Saddle Broncs and Bare Bacs, Jr. high aged boys ride steers for their competition. Kayson Jensen, pictured, placed first in Bare Bacs both Friday and Saturday. Byron Christiansen also was first in bull riding both days. Both Kayson and Byron placed in the top three in Saddle broncs both days.

Christiansen also was sixth and third in boys goat tying on Friday and Saturday and fourth in boys break away roping.
Zeek Weber placed eighth in boys breakaway roping, also fifth in ribbon roping with his partner. Race Gordon was eighth on Friday and Byron was third on Saturday.

Christiansen also received all-around cowboy awards both days.

In the shooting competition of the last Jr. High rodeos Wesley King, Emery Team, placed seventh in both the Sevier and Cedar Shoots.

Jr. High Rodeo takes a break now until spring.
