The Green River Pirates fell to Piute in the consolation bracket of the the 1A State Basketball Tournament on Thursday. The Pirates were bumped into the consolation bracket after a loss to Rich in the opening round the day before.
Piute started the game with a strong lead in the first quarter, 21-11. In the third quarter, Green River strived for a comeback, scoring 21 points, but Piute held strong to take the game, 67-49.
Piute had five players score in double figures led by 17 points from Wesley Jensen as the team rolled past Green River for the 1A consolation win.
The top scorer for Green River was Dawson Anderson with 12 points.
