The Green River robotics team had a great year due to hard work, determination and teamwork. This year’s team members were Shin Gomez, Emily Roundy, Jenni Andrus, Julissa Escalante and Olivia Sant. The team was led by Dale Roundy, a teacher at Green River High School.

The team competed against other robotics clubs in the state. Green River is the only 1A school and it competes against schools up to 5A.

Rob Murray heads the Emery County robotics program in which Green River is a part of. Murray first coached teams in Oklahoma before coming to Emery County. Roundy has stated that Murray is the reason that secondary schools in Emery County have robotics teams and all four teams made it to state.

“Murray has provided GRHS with the knowledge we have needed to run the program,” said Roundy.

There were two qualifying rounds in which Green River ranked sixth in both rounds. The rankings were enough to qualify the Pirates for state. Green River lost in the finals to the PRESTIDIGITATORS, one of the top teams in the state.
