The Green River High School (GRHS) Lady Pirates have been working hard this season and have had a multitude of games to compete in during the month of December.

On Dec. 6, the team welcomed the Hayden Tigers to their court, where they were bested 54-31. Megan Wollmer and Talynn Lovato topped the stat sheet for Green River, ending with 10 apiece. Morgan Bastian was the lone member to drain a three-pointer.

Then, continuing their work, the Lady Pirates hosted the Rangely Panthers. Though the competition was a bit tighter during this game, GRHS was once again overcome as they lost the game 44-34. Lovato once again proved herself a high-scorer, coming out on top with 16 points. Bastian hit the stat sheet with the lone three-pointer.

The following day, the Lady Pirates finally found their footing and were triumphant in besting the Intermountain Christian Lions 59-11. Lovato, still on fire, scored 18 points, followed by Abby Erwin with 13 and Bastian with 11. Bastian couldn’t be stopped and once again scored the single three-pointer for the team.

Green River had a small break before entering into a non-conference game against the Grand County Red Devils on Dec. 10. Green River was once again successful in coming out on top with a final score of 51-26. Lovato put up her top score of the past week by singly earning the Lady Pirates a whopping 25 points. Erwin followed with 12 of her own points.

Next, the Lady Pirates will take on Milford on Tuesday.
