Members of the community gathered at the KOA Campground on Monday morning as the Memorial Day Veterans Thank You event commenced in Green River.
A welcome was performed by Green River KOA representatives Joe and Denise West as well as Travis Bacon, Green River City Council and Mayor Pro Temp, followed by a presentation of the flags by veterans Rod and Lani Asay and a rendition of the National Anthem by Bacon.
Green River Bible Church Pastor Kirk Dunham led the opening prayer that was followed by a brief history of World War l by local historian Jo Anne Chandler. Chandler also presented the local veterans project. Bacon then took the podium once again to honor the veterans, joined by Nancy Dunham of American Legion Post 103 and the Wests.
The Wests led the closing thank you, followed by a rendition of “God Bless the USA.”
