The Green River Pirates are one game away from a 1A Championship after a 10-point win over Bryce Valley Friday night in Richfield. The Pirates won every quarter but one in their 60-50 win, which gets them into the 1A title game against Rich, a team who has lost just one time this season against teams from Utah.
Green River will play for a championship for the first time since 2000 when it won the 1A title. Rich has made the 1A semifinals for seven consecutive years before the chance to play for it all this year. Rich has never won a boy’s basketball championship.
Green River and Rich met once this season. Rich upended the Pirates 70-58 on Dec. 12.
The 1A Championship will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 at 5 p.m.
