Tied 46-46 with under 10 seconds remaining, Emery point guard Bailey Faimalo squared up against fellow Gunnison Guard Colby Caldwell with a berth in the 2A Championship on the line. Caldwell made his move as Faimalo bit on a pump fake 24 feet away from the rim. Suddenly with no one around him, Caldwell coldly drained a three pointer as time expired to send the Bulldogs to the state championship game for the first time in 14 years.

And just like that Emery’s incredible run in the 2A tournament came to an end. Emery will face South Seiver in 3rd-4th place game at 11:45 a.m. at Canyon View High School on Saturday.

Sophomore Dillon Wilstead led the Spartans with 15 points and Faimalo chipped in 10.

Emery is 0-2 on the season against South Sevier.
