On Monday, June 11, Emery High Principal Steven Gordon contacted teachers and staff of the high school telling them that by 3 p.m. nearly 400 firefighters would be camped on the soccer field, tennis courts and a base camp set up on the south parking lot.
He also advised some of the faculty that their classrooms and library would also be used. These additional firefighters are here to help control the Trail Mountain prescribed burn that became a wildfire and advanced to East Mountain and eventually down parts of Huntington Canyon. The north parking lot will be left available for any activities at the school.
