The Helper American Legion baseball team played its second home game of the week. Although it was a hard-fought match up, it was Helper that lost 3-2.

Jarod Lessar pitched a complete game for Helper. Cyprus scored a pair of runs in the third inning on two walks, a single and a wild pitch. It added one more in the sixth on a error, a walk and single.

Helper made a run at Cyprus in the bottom half of the sixth, scoring two runs on three singles and a error. Ridge Nielson and Derek Young both had RBIs.

Helper sits at 2-1 in league play. It travels to Hunter tomorrow and will return home Monday night against Hillcrest at 7 p.m.

“Jarod did a very good job on the mound. He had a few too many walks, but overall did a very good job against a good Cyprus team.  We just did not hit and score runs,” said head coach Jeff Cisneros, summing up the loss. “Cyprus threw their best pitcher and he did a very nice job holding us down.”
