The Helper American Legion baseball team traveled to Timpanogos on Wednesday for two games and ended the day on a fairly high note.

During the first game, Cody Lowe pitched 6 2/3 innings with Tyler Wright closing out the final batter of the game. A home run coupled with a number of walks gave Timpanogos three runs in the fifth inning, which made it a tighter game than expected.

“Cody pitched really well,” said head coach Dakota Cisneros.

Ty Anderson went 2-5 with two singles, a stolen base and three runs scored. Lowe was 2-4 with two singles, a stolen base and one RBI.

Jordan Fossat went 2-4 with one single, one double and two RBIs while Rylan Hart ended 1-3 with a single, a walk and three runs scored. Cooper Schade was 2-3 with one double, one single, one walk, two stolen bases and two runs scored. Brayton Nielson had three RBIs for the game. The team won the game overall with a final score of 11-5.

For the second matchup, while Helper did not win, the game ended in a tie 5-5.

Nathan Richens pitched four innings and gave up three earned runs as well as two unearned. Wright closed out the fifth inning for the team, keeping the game in the aforementioned tie, which is how the game ended due to lack of sunlight and Timpanogos having no lights on the field. The game was unable to run the traditional innings due to this.

Anderson was 2-3 with one single and one double, one walk and one scored run. Anthony Jones was 1-2 with one double, one run scored and two RBIs. Kaleb Nelson finished 2-2 with two singles, one walk and a lone RBI.

“We should have won two games on the day,” said Cisneros. “We had a big drop off in effort and focus in game two. Timpanogos was a team we should have beat twice, in my opinion.”

The team now sits at 7-0-1 with league play with a 10-1-1 overall record.
