Helper Arts Festival Car Show and Burn Out

New to the Helper Arts Festival Car Show this year, will be a cruise on Helper Main Street. The event will take place on Thursday, Aug. 15 beginning at 7 p.m. and will run on Main Street between Poplar Street and the parking lot of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. The cruise is open to anyone who wants to show off their vehicle.

The Helper Arts Festival Committee will be hosting their annual artist reception at the city park along with a sock hop following the cruise. Music from the 50’s and 60’s will be provided by Neil Breinholt. Refreshments will be served and dancing is encouraged. This blast from the past event is open to the public.

On Friday, Aug. 16, a burn out will be conducted on the east side of the Helper City Park. Car enthusiasts are invited to bring their cars to the contest and show off their vehicle and driving skills. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. and smoke and rubber will begin to burn at  7 p.m.

Bleachers will be set up for spectators, or bring a lawn chair and cheer for the competitors. Mohr Sound will provide music and announce the burn out event.

Todd Priano claimed last year’s Helper Arts Festival Burn Out title and will be defending the championship this year. The driving lane distance has been increased since last year allowing more spectators to witness the fun filled event.
