Early Thursday morning, there was a fatal accident on Highway 6 near mile marker 195.
The roads on the morning of the accident were wet from heavy rainfall early that morning and a light rain at the time. There was said to be some standing water on the road as well. There were two cars, one being an SUV, traveling eastbound when a white car hydroplaned and collided into a SUV. The other car slowed down in enough time to not be involved in the accident.
The passenger in the white car, who reportedly may not have been wearing a seat belt at the time, was killed on impact. The driver of the SUV was then transported by helicopter for medical attention. There were no other people or vehicles involved in the accident.
Darren Holt was the man killed in the accident. He was 55 years old and lived in Helper.
