FCCLA members from Helper Middle School recently attended the Utah FCCLA State Conference on March 20-21, where they attended workshops and competed in STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events.
Students whose projects qualified at the Region 3 competition back in January had the opportunity to present their projects to judges again, this time to compete for nationals.
Helper Middle School had five projects compete in the junior division at state, four of them groups and one individual project.
Brylee Campbell and Shontae Herrera competed in Focus on Children and received silver. Ella Anderson competed in Recycle and Redesign, also receiving silver.
Three teams from Helper Middle not only received silver as well, but also qualified for nationals. Stella Feik and Makaela Kinder competed in Food Innovations and received second place. Kaylee Leifer, Gentrie Hansen, TKiah McAthur and Emma Holm also received second place with their project in Promote and Publicize FCCLA. Isabelle Pugliese and Hannah Maddox brought home second place as well for their project in Sports Nutrition.
The FCCLA National Leadership Conference will take place on June 28 – July 2 in Atlanta, Ga.
