Helper Middle School FCCLA Students to Attend National Leadership Conference in July

FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) students, under the direction of Mrs. Susan Heller, attended the state leadership conference in Layton on March 21-23.

The students attended the conference along with 1,500 other FCCLA members form across the state. The students listened to motivational speakers, participated in community service projects and participated in the STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events competition.

Individual awards included food Innovations, Makaela Kinder and Kelsea Nef who earned a gold medal and received first place in the state. Tiffany Kinder and Jerica Blanchard competed in chapter in review display. The two received a gold medal and received second place in the state. Hailey Feichko and Kylie Madsen competed in entrepreneurship and received a silver medal and first place in the state. Sydnie Callahan and Hakayla Snow competed in chapter in review portfolio and received a gold medal and first place in the state. Alex Cartwright and Lizabeth Pugliese compete in life event planning and received a silver medal.

Eight of the Star Event competitors earned the opportunity to attend the FCCLA National Leadership Conference. Nationals will take place on July 8 in San Diego. There, they will gather to network with fellow FCCLA members, attend FCCLA program workshops and leadership sessions, and compete in STAR Events once more.
