While most students were busy gearing up for their weekend plans, the student government at Helper Middle School were rolling up their sleeves and getting their hands dirty. They volunteered their time on Friday afternoon to assist in planting various plants alongside the river at the Helper Walkway.

These plants aim to protect the river bank. The student government met with a representative of the River Restoration project as well as Helper City Mayor-Elect Lenise Peterman. Nearly 1,000 plants total are ready to be planted and the student government succeeded together in planting 500 of those.

When they had completed their planting projects, the students were treated with drinks, Little Caesars pizza and candy. The project is yet to be completed and the public is welcome to join in.
