*UPDATE* High Winds Result in Loss of Power and Substantial Property Damage in Emery County

Rocky Mountain Power stated that power was restored at 11:23 a.m. If power has not been restored in an area, please call 1-877-508-5088.

UPDATE:

As of 11 a.m., Rocky Mountain Power estimates that 974 customers are still without power in Clawson, Orangeville, Ferron and Castle Dale. This is down from the approximately 2,400 that were powerless yesterday.

Crews are currently on site and repairs are underway. The power company estimates that power will be restored by 1 p.m. today.

Ferron Elementary and San Rafael Junior High cancelled school due to the power outage.

Residents in Emery County may be experiencing a loss of power due to high winds in the area. According to Rocky Mountain Power, Clawson, Orangeville, Ferron and Castle Dale are without power at this time.

The power company has determined that the cause of the outage is due to transmission interruption and an estimated 2,400 customers are currently without power. Crews are currently on site and repairs are underway. The estimated time of power restoration is 11 p.m.

High wind warnings have been put into place for the Castle Country area until 9 p.m with winds 30-40 MPH and gusts of up to 60 MPH. Those traveling between Price and I-70 on Highway 10 are advised to use extreme caution.

The high winds have already caused substantial damage to property in Emery County.
