Early Thursday afternoon, 30-year-old Sunee Young was headed northbound on Hwy 10 in a Volkswagen Jetta. When just before the Rocky Mountain Power office in Carbon County she bent down to look for something in her car and before she knew it, was headed off the other side of the road.

The driver went down a hill smashing through a resident’s fence, stopping just before crashing into the resident’s pond. Trooper Bunnell of the Utah Highway Patrol said the driver was sent to the hospital with some injuries, the most severe being a broken arm, the same could not be said for the driver’s vehicle.

“Considering the condition of the vehicle she is very lucky she only sustained a broken arm, if she had been wearing her seatbelt she most likely would not have suffered even that,” Bunnell said.

Price City Police, Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, UHP, Price Fire and Carbon County Ambulance were all present on the scene. The driver will be cited for distracted driving, no others were involved in this accident.
