The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) shared at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon two closures on Highway 6.
According to UDOT, the highway is closed at mile post 229 in Carbon County as well as milepost 178 in Utah County. The estimated duration of the closures are nine hours each.
Highway 89 has also been closed between mileposts 297 and 312 as fire affects the roadway.
The closures were prompted by fires in the area as crews work to contain two blazes. As of 6 a.m. Sunday, the Pole Creek Fire had burned 61,248 acres and the Bald Mountain fire had burned another 13,509.
The Utah Department of Transportation advises the use of alternate routes for travelers.
