On Tuesday evening, Emery County Historical Society Officer Wade Allinson requested that Kevin Albrecht introduce the evening’s guest presenter, Jeff Williams. Albrecht stated that Williams and his wife Dessa are from Elko, Nevada. They own the Williams Family Museum just outside of Elko in Osino, Nev.
Williams began collecting guns in the 1960s. He brought many of his collection to share with the audience as he told how the West was won with many different guns.
The two main guns were the Winchester and Colt Revolver. He related the guns of Butch Cassidy, Buffalo Bill Cody, Davey Crockett and the Sundance Kid, showing models as he told the history. Williams traced gun development through the wars of the country, including the Civil War, Spanish American and others.
He explained the development of calibers, change of ammunition from powder to cartridges, firing mechanisms and stocks of guns, always showing examples of what he was discussing.
