Huntington City had a special meeting to discuss potential budget cuts Wednesday at the Huntington City Office.
Funds for holiday decorations, Heritage Days, and other activities could be in danger.
Mayor Hillary Gordon said, “I don’t want to cut budgets to the point that (Huntington City) can’t do anything.”
City Council members discussed the idea of taking pay cuts to help rectify the budget situation. They also discussed the possibilities of finding a new health care provider for employees and raising utility prices throughout the city.
Final decisions will be made at the June City Council Meeting.
Council members also announced the city would build a new fire station just south of Earl’s Bargains. Construction will begin shortly.
