Press Release
Isaac Caldiero made history as the first athlete to win NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior.” Since the show began in 2009, more than 3,500 contestants of the 70,000 applicants have competed over the seven seasons. To date, Caldiero is the only one to master all four heart-racing stages, taking home the $1 million dollar prize and title as the “First American Ninja Warrior.”
In 1997, at the age of 15, a good friend introduced Caldiero to climbing and he was instantly addicted. It had become his passion and life’s pursuit. The skills and strength he gained from climbing ultimately put him above his competition and at the top of Mt. Midoriyama.
A big part of Caldiero’s passion for climbing involves scouting new areas. With the support of his sponsors, he has played an important role in the establishment of some of the most nationally-recognized climbing destinations throughout American, Canada, Europe and Asia, including Joe’s Valley here in Emery County. These areas are now visited and enjoyed by climbers from all over the world.
Since winning “American Ninja Warrior,” Caldiero has become a motivational speaker for youth. He has given his presentation all over the world and will share it with local youth at two assemblies to take place during the Joe’s Valley Bouldering Festival. Although he will make many appearances during the weekend, the best time to snag some meet and greet time with Caldiero will be Thursday evening, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. at the Castle Dale Fairgrounds (75 South 400 East in Castle Dale). Caldiero will be signing posters and visiting with those who attend. You can also test your skills on the B4 Adventure Ninjaline Course that will be set up thanks to generous sponsors like Magnuson Lumber and Castle Dale City.
Also, don’t miss Caldiero’s attempt to ride a steer for the first time at the Rhino Skin Rodeo Games. The rodeo games will take place at the Castle Dale rodeo arena on Friday, Sept. 27 starting at 6:30 p.m. The rodeo games will also feature the JN Auto and BK’s Stop-N-Shop “Fill the Stands for $500” giveaway. The event is FREE and five lucky people will walk away with $100 each. But wait, there’s more to win at the rodeo! Not only will there be prizes from Rhino Skin, but you could also be the lucky winner of 52 free drinks from Cup-of-Joe’s. For every drink you buy between now and Sept. 26, you will get a ticket. Bring those tickets to the rodeo and you could be the one to win a FREE 16 oz drink per week for a year at Cup-of-Joe’s!
