In conjunction with the 25K Jobs Launch Tour press conferences that took place in Carbon and Emery counties on Wednesday, a well-attended job fair also took place at USU Eastern’s Jennifer Leavitt Student Center.
Local businesses such as Jake Mellor Financial Services and Jones & Demille Engineering had tables set up for attendees’ perusal. The World Trade Center Utah and other similar entities were set up to assist in any way possible as well.
Carbon County Commissioner Casey Hopes began a presentation that was given by World Trade Center Utah President Derek Miller and Lieutenant Governor Spencer J. Cox. Hopes thanked the college for hosting the fair, as well as those in attendance.
Miller touched briefly on how the 25K Jobs Tour came to life. He stated that the discussion was had about how it was important that each rural county agreed to not only make this a state effort, but a local one as well.
Lt. Governor Cox stated that the turnout at the presentation and the job fair in general is the largest that the tour had seen so far. To Cox, this was not a surprise, as he states that Carbon County is clearly invested in the jobs of the area.
In a separate interview, Miller explained that World Trade Center got involved with the tour due in part to the fact that the center was already planning on doing a rural tour. From there, it only made sense to combine the two entities to make it larger.
The purpose of the World Trade Center in Utah is to introduce businesses that need employees to people that need employment and introduce people that need help with making their business viable and growing to those service entities that have money and training for expansion of local businesses with emphasis on a world market for goods. Their motto is, “Helping Utah companies think, act and succeed globally.”
