Emery’s 9-3 win over South Sevier on Tuesday put them in fourth in Region 15 and led to a tough contest against Juab (Region 15 #2) on Saturday.
The Lady Spartans struck early with two runs in the first but gave them both back for a 2-2 tie. The third inning was miserable for Emery, who gave up 10 runs and fell into a sizable hole. Emery went on to lose by that amount, 15-5.
The Lady Spartans then had to face Providence Hall in an elimination game. Again Emery jumped out in front and led 4-1 after one inning. The Lady Spartans took a page out of Juab’s book and put 11 runs on the board in the second. They kept their playoff hopes alive with a 17-2 thumping.
Amber Bennett and Cambrie Jensen each went 3-3 with two RBIs in the contest. Bennett used her speed to hit two triples. Braileigh Clark pitched the complete three-inning game and gave up two runs, one earned, on three hits. She struck out seven.
Emery (Region 15 #4) will play the loser between South Sevier (Region 15 #5) and Grand (Region 15 #2) on Thursday at 4 p.m. in Spanish Fork.
