Members of the community had the chance to explore one of Helper’s newest art galleries during an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony at K2 Gallery on Tuesday afternoon.
K2 Gallery showcases the artistic pieces of Kate Kilpatrick-Miller and Karen Jobe Templeton’s, including paintings and sculptures. Those in attendance had the chance to view these pieces and meet the two women bringing their unique art to Helper.
“A big thank you to all who came out to our ribbon cutting,” Kilpatrick-Miller and Templeton shared. “We are so excited to be in the community, and we can’t wait to see you all again soon.”
Community members will have a chance to become involved in the gallery in the future through various painting and sculpture workshops, which are slated to begin in 2018, and upcoming exhibits.
One such exhibit has been titled “Faces of Helper” and is spearheaded by Kilpatrick-Miller. This series will feature a variety of artwork showcasing the many residents who have helped shape Helper. The first installment of this series will debut on Dec. 15.
Kilpatrick-Miller and Templeton are also getting in the holiday spirit as they plan to open the second story of their building Thanksgiving week for Fine Art Christmas, a year-round Christmas store featuring fine art and collectibles items. Templeton will be selling limited-time Christmas ornaments depicting historic buildings in Helper, with four editions scheduled this year. Templeton will also offer treats, such as homemade chocolates, at the store.
Customers can find the new art gallery on Helper’s historic Main Street next to the Stand Theater (102 S. Main). K2 Gallery is open Thursday through Saturday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as well as during Helper’s First Friday events.
