Southeastern Utah Health Department held their second annual “Kick Ash” Fitness 5/10K Walk and Run on Saturday. Health Department Specialist Debbie Marvidikis said they had well over 400 register for the event.

More walkers and runners continued to show up on Saturday, so the exact number of participants is unknown.

The 10K run wound its way though west Price and toward Carbonville road. The 5K followed the Price River Trail and back through the streets of Price.

Marvidikis said the event is used to promote wellness and fun activities to keep Carbon County residents fit. There was no cost to participate. The run is paid for by a grant from Tobacco Settlement Funds. Carbon County Recreation provided race support for the event. The funding covers a three year cycle so Marvidikis is looking forward to putting this run/walk on for at least one more year for free. It continues to grow and she would love to see it as a permanent event each spring.
