DWR Press Release

A fun Saturday morning awaits young people on Sept. 26. That’s the day the Division of Wildlife Resources sponsors a Kids’ Fishing Event at Green River State Park.

The event, which is free of charge, runs from 8 a.m. to noon. The park is just off Interstate 70 in Green River.

“Rods, reels and bait will be provided for those who don’t have their own,” said Walt Maldonado, regional wildlife recreation specialist for the DWR. “Experienced anglers will also be available to teach kids how to fish.”

Children under 12 don’t need a license to fish. Adults who help their children fish may do so without a fishing license.

Before the event, the pond will be freshly stocked with fish. Maldonado said you’re welcome to catch and release as many fish as you’d like. If you decide to keep fish, the limit is two.

For more information, call Maldonado at (435) 820-8147.
