Carbon opened its 2019-20 season on the road in Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday evening. The Lady Dinos’ emphasis on defense in practice immediately paid dividends as Carbon shutout the Lady Hawks in the first quarter to lead 18-0.
Carbon stifled the North Sanpete offense, which was never able to get going. The Lady Hawks failed to score more than two points in any quarter of the contest. The Lady Dinos took the opener in decisive fashion, 57-5.
Jordan Bianco and Makenna Blanc led the offensive attack, scoring 13 and 12 points, respectively. In fact, five Lady Dinos outscored North Sanpete. Abbie Saccomanno had a team-high five rebounds while Jordan Bianco also led the Dinos with eight steals and five assists. As a team, Carbon recorded an outstanding 29 steals.
Up next for the Lady Dinos will be the state runner-ups, the Grantsville Cowboys. This matchup is will take place on the Tuesday, Nov. 26 in Grantsville.
