On Wednesday, the #7 Lady Dinos came out and had a strong showing in Day 2 of the state tournament. Their first match was against #6 South Summit. Carbon took the lead with a first set win, 25-21. In the second set, Carbon was down 11-4 before it came roaring back to win 25-18, ending the set on a 21-7 run.

Carbon went up 17-12 in the third set before the Lady Wildcats made a run of their own. South Summit tied the game at 21 and finished well to grab the set, 25-22. The Lady Dinos had enough of the Lady Wildcats in the fourth set and set the tone early. They went up 10-3 and went on to steamroll South Summit 25-14 to end the contest.

In the 5th/7th matchup, Carbon had a rematch with Grand. Both teams swept the other on their respective home courts earlier in the year. They traded blows in the first set until Carbon grabbed four straight points to lead 20-14. The Lady Dinos would close out the set 25-17.

Grand took control in the second set and had its way with Carbon. The Lady Red Devils held off Carbon’s late comeback attempt (25-21) to even the score at one set apiece. The Lady Dinos were determined to come home winners and dominated the next two sets 25-20 and 25-16. They played their best volleyball of the tournament on the second day and finished in fifth place. The Lady Dinos were victorious in 10 of their last 11 games and went 21-11 on the year.
