Lady Dinos Fall Short in 3A Semis, Finish Season With 17 Wins

The Carbon Lady Dinos’ quest for a 3A title ended Friday afternoon as the defending champion Morgan Trojans sent Carbon home with a 56-41 loss in the semifinals at the Maverik Center in Salt Lake City.

The Lady Dinos upended the Stansbury Stallions Thursday evening to get into the semis. Jordan Scoggins went 4-4 from the foul line in the final minute of play to get the Lady Dinos a 50-48 win.

It was the second matchup of the year between Carbon and Morgan, with both teams meeting Nov. 21 in Price, a game the Lady Dinos won in overtime, 62-59. Carbon trailed by 17 points at the half before mounting an incredible comeback to take the season-opening win.

In the game Friday, Morgan took a commanding 12-point lead after the first quarter before Carbon was able to trim the lead to four, 29-25, at the half. The Lady Dinos were able to stay within single digits for most of the third and fourth quarters before Morgan coasted to the win.

Carbon finished the season with a 17-8 record, including a 6-2 mark in Region 12. The Lady Dinos were Region 12 Champions.
