Carbon’s Lady Dino golf team played the Gold Course at Soldier Hollow Golf Course last week for the State Tournament. The Lady Dino’s took 13th place at the match.
Sixteen 3A teams gathered for the two-day championship with a cut to the top ten after the first day. Desert Hills won the title with a two-day score of 610 points. Park City was second at 604 and Dixie was third with 565. Carbon missed the cut at 192 points, finishing 13th. Lexi Garcia made 53, Indie Gardner 47, Aubrey Fausett 47 and Laini Davis 45 at the tournament.
“Soldier’s Gold Course is a very good test of golf. Usually, a team needs to make at least 280 to make the cut; this year it was 237,” said head coach Kenji Otani. “My girls gave it their best and I know they felt like they let me and themselves down, but they played with heart and I am proud of them. Thank you girls.”
