In their annual trip to the Fruita, Colo. tournament over the weekend, the Carbon Lady Dinos went 2-1, suffering their first loss of the season to a tough Fruita team on Saturday, 46-41.

The Lady Dinos kicked off the tourney on Thursday against Grand Junction Central and walked away with a 46-36 win. Three Carbon players scored in double figures, led by Lindsey Blanc with 14 points. She also grabbed a team-high eight boards. Jordan Scoggins poured in 12 and Morgan Hillam snagged six rebounds and scored 11 points.

Blanc again spurred the Dinos to victory, this time on Friday against Grand Junction, by a wide margin, 49-26. Blanc scored a season-high 17 points to go along with seven steals. Sara Morley pulled down 12 rebounds in the win. No other Lady Dino scored more than seven points. Eight total Dinos scored in the game. Carbon outscored Grand Junction 26-10 in the second half.

Looking to avenge a loss to Fruita in last year’s tournament matchup, Carbon put together a good second half in its game on Saturday but fell short, 46-41, taking its first defeat of the year. Despite 17 points and seven rebounds from Morley, the Lady Dinos couldn’t overcome a slow first half in which they scored just 11 points. Carbon went on to outscore Fruita 30-23 in the second half. Scoggins also scored in double figures with 12.

Carbon (5-1, 0-0 Region 12) will take on North Summit (4-2, 0-0 Region 16) on Tuesday in Coalville. The Lady Dinos will be back home Thursday against Uintah. That game can be viewed live on ETV Channel 10 at 7 p.m.
