Before the game, head coach Ted Bianco said they had their work cut out for them. Carbon took that to heart and his unranked Lady Dinos gave the third-ranked Juan Diego Soaring Eagles team all they could handle. Despite leading at the half, Carbon could not finish it off and lost, 61-50.
The final score does not reflect the tight game overall. Even in the fourth quarter, Carbon tied it up and stayed within striking distance. Coach Bianco said that his team played well except for a few flat stretches. He noted that Juan Diego is a really good team, but the Dinos have another tough matchup Tuesday night when region rival North Sanpete comes to town.
Katie Basinger led Carbon with 16 points. Shelby Cornforth posted 14 including a three. Jordan Scoggins added nine.
