With a chance to play for the 3A Championship on Saturday night, the Carbon Lady Dinos were upended in the final seconds by a pesky Cedar team, 54-53.
After a back-and-forth first quarter, Carbon maintained a lead until the final seconds.
The loss drops Carbon into the consolation bracket where it will face Pine View Saturday at 9 a.m. The game will be played at either Canyon View or Cedar high school.
The Lady Dinos were led by sophomore Kelsey Sorenson who poured in 16 points. Sara Morley was next with 11. Morgan Hillam and Lindsey Blanc each contributed 10 and nine points, respectively.
Carbon lost to Morgan in last year’s semifinals, 56-41. This year, the Utah High School Athletic Association added a consolation bracket to the tournament.
