The Carbon Lady Dinos scored 12 runs in the sixth inning to take a decisive 23-3 win against Delta Tuesday afternoon.
In two games against the Rabbits this season, Carbon outscored Delta 43-3.
Despite 26 total team hits in the game, not one went for a homer. Carbon’s streak of nine straight games with at least one home run hit was snapped in the game. After going 0-3 with two strikeouts against Union last week, Kelsey Sorenson rebounded with six hits, going 6-6 with four singles and two doubles with three RBIs. Brooke Moosman knocked in four more runs with a 2-3 showing. Seven other Lady Dinos had at least two hits apiece in the game.
Moosman took the win in the circle after tossing two innings and giving up just one hit. Kaytlyn Cripps and Dekota Kraushaar also pitched in the game.
Carbon (17-4, 7-2 Region 14) has just one game remaining on its regular season schedule. The Lady Dinos will look to avenge a loss from earlier in the year to Juab with both team’s regular season finale in Price on Thursday at the Carbon County Fairgrounds. Should Carbon win, a three-way tie would ensue between Carbon, Juab and Union atop the Region 14 standings. A coin flip would determine playoff seeding.
The 3A Playoffs begin Saturday. If the Lady Dinos nab the number one seed out of the region, they, along with Carbon baseball, would host the first two rounds of the 3A Playoffs.
