The Carbon High girls golf team traveled to St. George for its first region match on Tuesday. The Dinos finished second overall out of five teams in the nine-hole tournament.
“For a young team, they played really good,” coach Kenji Otani said.
The Dinos finished with 101 points, just seven points behind first place Juab. Braxton Gibson was a standout in the tournament, taking home the medal for the most points scored in the matchup with 32. Kaycee Gilson came just behind Gibson with 31 points. Keely Marquez notched 22 points for the Dinos and Lexi Garcia rounded out the scoring with 16.
Richfield finished behind Carbon with 81 points, followed by North Sanpete with 77 and Payson with 50.
