In a game where buckets were scarce, it was fitting that the game hinged on a final possession in a tied game. Luckily the Carbon Lady Dinos had said possession and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 3A tournament on a last-second bucket from Shelby Cornforth.
Carbon led by as many as seven points on twoВ occasions, but Stansbury roared back to tie the game both times. The game was tied at 33 when CornforthВ receivedВ a pass from Katie Basinger for the winning basket. The Stallions attempted a desperation three pointer from half court as time expired, but to no avail.
With the win, the Dinos advance to play the Dixie Flyers at Weber State on Thursday. Dixie, a four seed, upset Juan Diego, a one seed, earlier in the day. Tipoff is slated for 5:50 p.m in Odgen.
