This past weekend, the USU Eastern softball team played the Colorado Northwest Community College (CNCC) Spartans for the second time this year. The Eagles dominated their competition and there were some major highlights throughout the weekend.

The Eastern offense was able to stay hot this weekend with 14 home runs, including one from Sydney Smith on her first at bat of the 2023 season, two from freshman Cambrie Jensen, who went 10-10 at the plate, and three from Kalsey Lopes in one game. With a total of 76 runs scored this weekend, the Eagles were able to sweep the Spartans.

The Lady Eagles’ offense wasn’t the only thing hot during the series. The pitching staff for Eastern was able to work hard, allowing only 10 hits in the four games this weekend.

USU Eastern will continue conference play this upcoming weekend in Twin Falls, Idaho. The Eagles will face the College of Southern Idaho for their last away series before the Region 18 Conference Tournament.
