The USU Eastern women’s basketball team routed Chandler-Gilbert Community College last week, sweeping their three-game road trip and improving to 6-1 on the young season.

In the 82-48 victory against the Coyotes, Sharne Pupuke-Robati‘s hot shooting from the floor set the tone for the game with 17 points and five rebounds. Margarett Otuafi put up six defensive boards and added 12 points on offense in her 22 minutes of play. Emmery Wagstaff added 11 points and coming off the bench as a big contributor was Harley Carlisle with 10 points and five rebounds.

“This was an great road trip for us and to win all three games was huge. The team’s solid defense allowed for everyone to see minutes on the floor and the offensive execution was exciting to watch. I contribute a big part of the success we are having to the excellent chemistry as a team,” said head coach Chelsey Warburton.

The Lady Eagles will have big test this weekend as they travel north to participate in a tournament hosted by the College of Southern Idaho. Tip-off on Friday will be at 1:30 p.m. against the Idaho State Cardinals. On Saturday, the team will face off with Southwestern Oregon Community College at 1:30 p.m. Games will be live streamed on the Scenic West Digital Network online.
